Yipee! My latest book, Mirasol Book 28 is now back from the printers and with my US and Canadian distributors. I’ve not seen it yet myself, even though I have looked over the patterns and proofs 101 million times, it’s always exciting seeing it in ‘real-life’
The Asikita yarn is beautiful to knit with. It is different from other Spring Summer yarns in Mirasol, as it is a chainette (like Ushya). This seems to mean, for me anyway, that it holds the stitch patterns perfectly.
We went to Spain to photograph the book, as you can’t really get a summer feel in the UK in the snow! It was a very quick trip, we went out one day, stayed over and flew back the next day. I have a brilliant photographer, make up artist and model, so we can work together really well and really quickly which is what is needed sometimes!
I love what I do, it is so exciting producing simple, easy to knit garments. When I design I always think of the knitter’s enjoyment. I like the knitting to be fun. I like the knitting to be simple. This isn’t always simple to design, but it is exciting to finally get the right design for the yarn. I feel it is important to match a yarn with a stitch pattern.
I hope you enjoy looking at the Asikita designs!

Mirasol Book and patterns

For the last few weeks I’ve been getting the new season books together. And this season I’ve produced some free patterns too!

There are 3 of them and they are on the US distributors of Mirasol website as free downloads. This is the first time I’ve produced free downloadable patterns. I hope you like them and enjoy making the accessories.

The first one is made from Mirasol Nuna, a gorgeeeeeeooooooouuuuuusssss 40% Merino Wool, 40% Silk and 20% bamboo yarn. This fibre combination makes the shades shine. I am a little bit addicted to Nuna because of the way it holds stitches, and is so lovely to knit with.

I’ve chosen 3 shades to knit this scarf, but it can be knitted with one shade, or as many shades as you want. It’ll look fabulous with a different shade for each stripe. Anyway, it’s a simple and easy to knit pattern that you can use to make your own. As I hope you will do with all my patterns.

Happy (Belated) New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a lovely festive holiday and are having a good start to 2012.

I can’t believe how quickly 2011 has whizzed by, I feel like it was just yesterday when it was the start of 2011!

I’m busy getting my next books to the printers and already excited about new designs for the next books. So during the day I’m going through patterns and double checking (really it is about 20 times checking!) the mathematics while in the evenings I am playing with new yarns and thinking of new designs for existing yarns…..so many ideas I need to try and organise my mind to calmly start on one and not one hundred!

I’ve also joined the world of Twitter, I’m still trying to understand it but it’s all learning fun! My twitter address is @knitjane¬†

Hope everyone has a super January!
